In an effort to provide opportunities to listen to real English outside the classroom, the English 365在线体育投注-【官网直营】@ Program, a part of the university’s Department of Foreign 365在线体育投注-【官网直营】@ Education, offers lectures in the ELP Lecture Series. In this ongoing series, each lecturer chooses an accessible topic and explains it in English which is neither too difficult nor too easy.
The fourteenth lecture in the series, “How We Think We Think: The Truth about Behavior,” will be held on Tuesday, October 27. Humans are not as rational as we like to think we are. In fact, we do things that are against our own interest all the time. This lecture will show some of the many ways in which we are fooled, cheat ourselves, and generally do not act the way economists predict that rational, intelligent creatures should. Join this presentation by ELP teacher David Baldwin and you may be surprised at what you learn about your own decision-making ability!
The ELP Lecture Series is open to students, faculty, staff, and anybody else whose English skills could use a bit of a challenge. This is a great opportunity for you to have a little overseas study experience right here at home. The first thirteen lectures in the ELP Lecture Series can be watched here:
