Since 2007, J. F. Oberlin University has presented "Gundoku ongaku geki: The Night of the Milky Way Train," a stage performance created by students, citizens, and professional artists, every summer. Although the 2020 performance had to be canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, President Hatayama suggested that an online version of "The Night of the Milky Way Train" be completed in 2021 as a form of expression that can be performed even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At J. F. Oberlin, we consider “Internationalism" as one of our greatest strengths. Therefore, in 2022, we’ve created an online version of "The Night of the Milky Way Train" subtitled in English so that people around the world can experience the universal themes and unique worldview of "The Night of the Milky Way Train" using English, an international language.
The stage performance will be released from 11th March on JFOU official youtube channel. The work created by Miyazawa Kenji are considerate of the feelings of the victim of the “Great East Japan EarthQuake”
The students, graduates and faculty of the College of Performing and Visual Arts have put all their efforts into this work. We hope that as many people as possible will have the opportunity to see it.
