On Tuesday, December 3, President Takayasu Mitani and Simon Cookson of the Department of Aviation Management visited CTC Aviation Training in Hamilton, on the north island of New Zealand. They were welcomed by Anthony Petteford (CTC Director Strategic Projects at CTC) and Julian So (Acting Managing Director at CTC NZ).
President Mitani toured the CTC training facility and took an observation flight in a Cessna 172. He also tried a Diamond DA42 flight simulator before meeting 25 students from the Flight Operations (FO) programme who are training at CTC.
FO students spend about 22 months doing flight training at CTC NZ, and this training is carried out in collaboration with Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT).
On Wednesday, December 4, President Mitani and Simon Cookson visited NMIT in Nelson, on the south island of New Zealand. They were welcomed by Tony Gray (Chief Executive Officer of NMIT) and Sharon McGuire (Group Manager of Regional Economic Development at NMIT).
During the visit, discussions were held about the FO flight training programme, and also about other collaboration between J. F. Oberlin University and NMIT, including the Global Outreach study abroad programme.
