On April 10, J. F. Oberlin University Scholarship students for the 2015–2016 academic year received certificates from President Takayasu Mitani. The selection process required applicants to submit essays and be interviewed; the successful applicants are eligible to have their tuition waived for up to four full years. This academic year, the following six students were selected:
Honoka Sugawara, College of Health and Welfare
Haruhi Kondo, College of Performing and Visual Arts
Yuki Hori, College of Arts and Sciences
Micheli Keiko Nemoto, College of Arts and Sciences
Reina Tanabe, College of Business Management
Julia Ara, College of Business Management
With the President, deans, faculty advisors, and past scholarship recipients looking on, the students took turns describing their hopes for the four years ahead. President Mitani encouraged the students, saying “Please take any classes that you are interested in, without worrying about your GPA, and keep learning widely and deeply throughout your years here. At the same time, please ask yourself whether you are fulfilling your responsibilities as a scholarship student. I hope you have an enjoyable and rewarding life at J. F. Oberlin University.”
